Find Calm: Master Your Emotions, Master Your Life
Anger Management Classes
The Poplar Tree Center offers Anger Management classes based on the Choice-Based Anger Control Model. This practical and empowering approach emphasizes personal responsibility and equips participants with tools to manage their emotions constructively.
Understanding the Choice-Based Anger Control Model
This model is built on key principles:
Empowerment through Options: Knowing that we have various ways to handle anger enables us to stay in control rather than feel out of control.
- Anger is a Choice: We can choose how to respond when confronted with challenging situations.
- Healthy Responses are Possible: By recognizing our choices, we can manage anger in healthy ways.
- Awareness is Key: Understanding our triggers allows us to prevent unwanted episodes of anger.
Questions to Reflect On Before Attending
To get the most out of your experience, consider the following questions:
- How often do you experience anger or rage?
- How do you typically respond when you begin to feel angry?
- What strategies do you use to cool down after getting angry?
- What are your most common triggers? Is it a family member, work situation, or daily stressors like traffic?
- What specific skills or insights do you hope to gain from anger management classes?
Be sure to share your goals with the instructor so we can tailor the class to meet your unique needs.
A Judgment-Free Zone
The Poplar Tree Center provides a supportive, judgment-free environment. We strive to build rapport with our participants, creating a space where you feel comfortable and valued. While your initial visit might be court-mandated, our goal is to make each class meaningful and engaging so you want to return.
Who Should Attend Our Classes
If you’ve been required to take an anger management class for court, probation, or personal growth, the Poplar Tree Center is here to help. We recognize that experiencing anger is natural and that everyone can benefit from learning new strategies for managing this powerful emotion.
Our Certified Anger Management Specialists are experienced in teaching practical methods to manage anger outbursts and avoid violent behaviors. Classes are held weekly at our convenient locations.
Evaluations and Requirements
Before attending, ensure you complete an Anger Management evaluation unless your court or probation officer has already specified the number of classes required. For example, participants arrested in some counties may need to complete 12 weeks of anger management. If you’re unsure, we can schedule an evaluation at your preferred location.
